Tell us about yourself!
Hello, I am Omobola (most people prefer Bola because it’s shorter). I come from the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, and I am married to my birthday mate—a delightful coincidence that makes our shared celebrations even more special. Now, we’re a trio with the addition of our lively and adorable 2-year-old son, who fills our lives with joy and laughter.
What were you doing before Tokeny and what inspired you to join the team?
I started my career in the legal field, having obtained a law degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, but the fast-paced world of business soon piqued my interest hence I transitioned into business development and project management roles, and spent a few fulfilling years doing these.
Upon relocating to Luxembourg, I seized the opportunity to deepen my business acumen by enrolling in a master’s program in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Luxembourg. As part of this program, I undertook a 3-month internship working in the marketing team at Tokeny, a decision that has proven to be both strategic and rewarding.
Choosing Tokeny for my internship was driven by a desire to explore new frontiers. Firstly, I craved uncharted territories. Fintech, especially tokenization, is a cutting-edge frontier, and I wanted to be a part of it! Secondly, the marketing role offered a fresh challenge. While I had engaged in marketing activities in my previous roles, I had never dedicated myself solely to this discipline. Finally, after exploring Tokeny’s website and employee testimonials, I was struck by the company’s people culture. The stories I read reflected a supportive and inclusive environment, perfect for professional growth.
How would you describe working at Tokeny?
My experience of working at Tokeny can be described as a unique blend of challenging work and supportive colleagues. Challenging because, even as an intern, you are entrusted with significant autonomy. You tackle diverse tasks, encouraging you to take ownership and innovate. This environment pushes you to grow and develop new skills continuously.
On the other hand, Tokeny is incredibly supportive. The company fosters a safe space where you are encouraged to give your best without fear of judgment. The sense of value and backing from the team is palpable. Colleagues are open, quick to acknowledge mistakes, and always ready to provide constructive feedback and assistance.
This culture of trust and collaboration not only boosts your confidence but also instills a strong commitment to excel and contribute meaningfully to the company’s success. It’s an environment where I felt empowered to go above and beyond.
What are you most passionate about in life?
Children are my greatest passion. Their innate curiosity, honesty, and unfiltered joy never ceases to amaze me. I am captivated by their simplicity and the way they view the world with such wonder and trust. Having children around brings me immense joy, and their genuine nature is both inspiring and heartwarming.
However, I am also deeply concerned about their vulnerability. I dream of one day establishing an entity that is dedicated to supporting underprivileged children, providing them with the basic needs and opportunities they deserve.
What is your ultimate dream?
My ultimate dream is to live a life filled with happiness and to be able to look back with no regrets. I aspire to create a meaningful and fulfilling life, both personally and professionally, where I can cherish every moment and be proud of the impact I’ve made.
What advice would you give to future Tokeny employees?
Embrace the challenges and opportunities that come your way. Tokeny is a place where you can grow and thrive if you are willing to take initiative and be open to learning.
What gets you excited about Tokeny’s future?
Tokenization is the future and Tokeny is part of the creators of that future—that in itself is exciting! We’re building the future of finance, and I can’t wait to see what incredible things Tokeny achieves next.
