Year of Tokeny: 2023’s Milestones & 2024’s Tokenization Predictions

I hope you kicked off the new year with great energy and enthusiasm.

At Tokeny, our people are what make us outstanding. As a remote-first team, we prioritize coming together each year for retreats to forge physical connections, align our visions, and simply share great moments.

Last week, our journey led us to the picturesque Puigcerdà in Spain. Amidst breathtaking mountain hikes, indulgent spa experiences, and delightful culinary adventures, we also found time for some highly efficient meetings. It was truly amazing, and we had the pleasure of meeting one of our first members, Nida, who finally joined us in person after six years of dedicated work at Tokeny from Turkey.

As we reflect on the achievements of 2023, we are thrilled to share the highlights that have propelled us to the forefront of tokenization.

? Tokeny’s Triumphs:

2023 marked Tokeny’s 6th year, a milestone that brought numerous celebrations, including:

• 45 new financial institutions as customers and partners
• Apex Group Investment: We secured new investment from Apex Group, which underscores institutional support for tokenization, enabling us to scale further.
• Security Focus: We continued to demonstrate our commitment to the highest security standards, earning a perfect 10/10 audit score from Hacken and obtaining SOC2 Type 1 certification.
• Revenue Boom: We increased our annual revenue by a stellar 100%.
• 176k readerships of our newsletter.
• 5,679 companies contacted us to collaborate or learn from us.
• Team Growth: Our team expanded by 25%.
  • And, two of our team members expanded their family by welcoming a newborn ?. 

? Eventful Year:

We gained global presence by attending 52 events worldwide, and speaking at 38. Additionally, we participated in 16 webinars, and featured in 2 podcasts.

? Growing Network of Issuers, Asset Managers and Servicers:

• LinkedIn Reach: We saw a 48% growth in our follower base, reaching over 8k followers on LinkedIn.
• Newsletter Expansion: We welcomed 2.4k new subscribers, our newsletter community now stands at 9.9k, including influential institutional subscribers from top asset managers like JP Morgan, State Street, BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Goldman Sachs.

? ERC-3643 Standardization Contribution:

• Association Launch: We successfully launched the ERC3643 Association with 45 prominent actively participating members, including top-tier financial institutions, global law firms, and blockchain leaders like SS&C, Invesco, CMS, Apex Group, and Polygon.
• EIP Recognition: Achieving final status in the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP), the ERC-3643 was officially recognized as the de facto token standard for compliant tokenization.

Predictions for 2024

The upcoming year promises to be full of tokenization breakthroughs. Our predictions are:

1. 5 out of the top 10 asset managers will tokenize assets: Tokenized products will be introduced by half of the top 10 asset managers.
2. Standardization with ERC-3643: The entire industry will start to build valuable use cases and form a dynamic ecosystem with a validated token standard ERC-3643 instead of reinventing the wheel.
3. Regulated entities will start tokenizing cash: A few large financial institutions will issue stablecoins, e-money or deposit tokens.
4. US regulation will open up: The US market is set to open up, compelling others to hasten their initiatives.
5. Institutions go public blockchain: It opens the door for interoperability with DeFi, driving demands from investors by adding utility to their assets and innovation.
