Who are you?
My name is Joachim Lebrun, I am 29 years old and living in Belgium, at the Luxembourgish border. I started my career in industrial chemistry after my engineering studies and worked in that sector for 3 years. As I have always been interested in a lot of different sectors, I started to study computer sciences in parallel with my job in chemistry. I discovered the blockchain at that moment and quickly fell in love with the idea of decentralisation and autonomous applications running on the blockchain. I started to work in this for a few ICOs during the ICO boom of 2017 and left my job in chemistry to work full time on blockchain projects and I never stopped since then.
At a personal level, I am addicted to good food. Before COVID-19, I was always looking for new restaurants to discover in Luxembourg. Now it’s more about cooking good stuff at my place ??. I also really like sports, I used to do fitness and boxing before the lockdowns, but I discovered a passion for mountain bikes during this weird times as Luxembourg is a perfect place for that.
How did you land at Tokeny Solutions?
I met Luc, the CEO of Tokeny, at the LHoFT in Luxembourg at the end of 2018, just before Tokeny’s first birthday. We decided to work together as we are both passionate about blockchain technology. When I look back to what we have accomplished since then I have to say that I am quite proud of the result ?.
How would you describe working at Tokeny Solutions?
I honestly really like working at Tokeny, the company has grown a lot since I landed here in 2018 but everyday we have new challenges and the team is very skilled. I also like the fact that I can work on a lot of different subjects, from coding to business related tasks. This is something that really reflects the startup spirit, and it prevents me from getting bored!
What are you most passionate about in life?
I am passionate about innovations and new technologies, from spacecrafts to 3d printers, to blockchain, etc. I am really amazed by what humans can achieve when they put their intelligence at work on meaningful subjects. I think we need more people like Elon Musk in this world, and I am convinced that intelligence and technology can solve all the problems that humanity is facing at the moment.
What is your ultimate dream?
My ultimate dream would be to live long enough to see us (humanity) become a multi planet civilization.
What would you change in the world if you could?
Tough question, there are a lot of things that would need to change in the world unfortunately, but if I have to choose one, I would say that the best thing that could happen to the world would be to see all nations cooperate, first to solve global problems such as global warming, poverty, etc. but also to solve technological challenges such as space colonization. But it’s probably quite utopian to believe in such a cooperation.
